his program focuses solely on helping small businesses, improving public spaces, and preserving the neighborhood’s unique cultural and economic identity, with a grant awarded for 5 years..



Through collaborative efforts, the NPP aims to create a more vibrant, inclusive, and economically resilient Colombian District, one that reflects the pride and potential of its residents, business owners, and cultural heritage

The City of Elizabeth, through its Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP), engaged a Professional Marketing Specialist to deliver a structured training program for small business owners located within the Colombian District NPP area. The program was supported with grant funds provided by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) under the Neighborhood Preservation Program.



Services Delivered
Needs Assessment – Conducted preliminary outreach and assessments to identify the digital and social media needs of participating small businesses.
Training Workshops – Organized and facilitated group training sessions focused on effective use of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Google Business, and other relevant channels) to strengthen brand visibility and customer engagement.
Individualized Coaching – Provided one-on-one technical assistance to participating business owners, ensuring customized guidance on creating and maintaining business pages, posting strategies, and digital marketing techniques.
Website Integration Support – Assisted businesses in connecting their social media presence to existing or new websites, creating a cohesive digital footprint.
Final Evaluation and Resources – Delivered a wrap-up session and distributed follow-up resources to ensure businesses could continue applying the strategies independently.
Project Outcomes
Participation included several small business owners from the Colombian District NPP area.
The training improved business owners’ knowledge of social media marketing and digital branding.
